Can’t Break Through a Binge Eating Cycle? Here’s how…

Binge Eating? Here's how to stop!
Binge Eating? Here’s how to stop!

Hello everyone! I can’t believe its already July. Time flies… 🙂 Today we are going to be discussing about binge eating and what steps you can take to break through this cycle. So many people face the problem of binge eating when bored or nervous. Its normal! That’s just the way your body reacts to a stressful situation. But its also important to know that there are ways you can come out of this.

When trying to come out of this process, you just have to remember one thing: “No matter who you are, no matter what you do, you absolutely, positively, DO have the power to change.”- anonymous

The point of my post today is, eating clean is important but ensure you don’t take it to an extreme that you fall into the horrible pattern of binge eating. Make sure you give your body one or two cheat meals a week. This will help your body in the long run in the sense that you won’t find yourself suddenly gorging on sundaes.

Here are a few tips to beat binge eating:

  • Learn to Maintain A Simple Meal Plan

So many things come into play when we speak of a simple meal plan such as: eating whole foods most of the time, eating slowly (chew a ton before you gulp that bite), know when you are actually hungry, stop eating when you are just about full not stuffed, enjoy those not so healthy foods 10-20% of the time.

  • Binge Eating is a Tricky Business

Please know that you can’t get out of this in a jiffy. Just like it takes effort to eat clean, it takes effort to come out of the binge eating cycle. The most important thing when consuming food is to remain consistent with it. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. There’s no better feeling than pacing yourself through the weeks and seeing a change in your body. Like I had mentioned in my very first post, clean eating is NOT a diet, its a lifestyle change. This lifestyle change will help you see long lasting results in a positive manner.

  • Work Out to Get Strong Not Shredded

Instead of treating your workouts as a punishment after a recent binge, you need to learn to forget about burning calories and focus on making your body perform well when working out. Performing well when working out will automatically lead to burning calories. But having a positive attitude can go a long way. Using your workout sessions to better your performance and increase strength will help you realize that food is a vital fuel for your body, not a problem that has to be solved. Learn to make it a part of your life. It will be hard to make this lifestyle change, but trust me when you start seeing results, you are going to be so proud of yourself and so will I 🙂

  • Lastly, Ask for Help!

There’s nothing wrong in asking for help. You can reach out to a qualified professional such as a gym trainer or even a dietitian. Building a healthy relationship with food is important. It comes easily to some people and not so much to others. But once you get the right kind of help, you will be so much more positive and your body will be at its best for a really long time 🙂

I hope this post has helped some of you realize the importance of clean eating and also where to draw the line. If you want to discuss this post further, please comment below. You can also email me at arpitagentela@gmail.com
